General Information

Winchester Model United Nations (WinMUN) is a one-day simulation held in April, with committees across all UN-organs set in the past and present. WinMUN is held annually at Winchester High School and hosted by the Winchester Model UN Club.

MUN is a student-driven organization at Winchester High School and has always been one of the school's largest clubs. With a diverse group of students from all grades, ethnicities, and debate-experience levels, Winchester's Model UN team has become a force to be reckoned with. Now, the club has over 100 members and presents a myriad of activities for students to engage in, mainly with 2-hour debate simulations hosted bi-weekly in GA and crisis format, multicultural events, and travel conferences.

In just eight years, the MUN team has come from repping Micronesia in the GA to ranking among the top 100 high school teams in the nation. In that time, several students have awarded at the Phillips Andover Invitational Model United Nations (PAIMUN), Clark University Model United Nations (ClarkMUN), Boston Invitational Model United Nations (BOSMUN), the North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN), and even spoken at the Closing Ceremonies of the National High School Model United Nations (NHSMUN).

At WinMUN, students will assume the role of UN representatives of member-states or historical individuals while debating the pressing issues that global leaders face every day. During the conference, we hope that students learn how to form blocs based on diplomacy and trust-worthiness, see the value in any nation's policy regardless of size, and ultimately bring out the best not just in themselves but all of their fellow delegates as they author world-changing draft resolutions. Holding to the spirit of the UN, WinMUN's mission is to provide an affordable, accessible, and academic Model UN experience that promotes creative thinking and genuine diplomacy that at the end of the day will leave students with a smile on their faces!
